Event Churer Rheintal
Excursion: What blooms, crawls and flies on the Schotsch?
Show all 8 images
Description
In the Schotsch am Calanda area there are beautiful dry meadows and dry stone walls that provide shelter for many wild animals. These meadows must be regularly cleared of bushes so that the variety of flowers is preserved. For years, WWF volunteers have also been restoring a dilapidated dry stone wall – a valuable habitat for reptiles and many small animals. This excursion is THE opportunity to get to know the protected areas on Chur's doorstep better.
Program
We meet at 1:40 p.m. at the bus stop 'Haldenstein, Dorf', directly at the village shop. On the way to the Lichtenstein castle ruins (walking time 45 min) we have interesting insights into the dry forest habitat and learn interesting facts about the most important woody plants and the typical flowering plants. At the castle, we can also get to know the habitat of a species-rich lean meadow with its fascinating flora and fauna. Then we make our way back in time so that we can catch the bus at 4:49 pm
